Origins Eliot
Title: Losing
Author: Magpie
Rating: pg-13
Genre: Eliot
Verse: Backstory to both my verses
Summary: Eliot is used to losing things
Notes: Actually wrote this awhile ago, just never posted it. Some spoilers for my story "Fathers"

Spencer Lawrence was used to losing things.

When he was eight and his mama married he lost what little of his real father he’d had when she told him not to come around anymore.

When he was nine he lost his mama when he told her that That Man was the one hitting him and she told him to go to bed without supper for lying.

When he was ten he lost his faith when he told their preacher the same thing and the father said it was a sin to lie.

When he was twelve he lost his innocence to That Man’s brutality.

When he was thirteen he started losing his mind.

When he was fifteen he saw that he was about to lose his sister to That Man and instead he lost her to the system, sending her into foster care.

Two days later he got his mama back when she stepped in to save his life only to lose her permanently when That Man killed her.

He lost everything else that day, but gained something else.

Eliot Spencer. A name crafted from what his mama had named him and an adaptation of his little sister’s nickname for him: “Elie”. It was something that was his, something no one, not That Man, not even the world could take from him.

His name was Eliot Spencer. The rest he’d figure out as he went.

Your stories are so poignant, sometimes heartbreaking, but always well written. I have read them all and saved them in a folder together. I have re-read "The White Queen", I believe it was titled, whenever I need a little hope for Eliot and Nate and Maggie.

I am sorry it has taken me this long to get the chance to tell you how much I have appreciated your work. It has never been from lack of interest in each new chapter. Thank you for 'Losing'.

Thank you kindly. It's always nice to hear someone enjoyed my stories.

I have my own folder? hmm... I always wanted my own folder!

*gulp*
That was like a punch to the gut. And it's almost scary how real it felt. Poor Eliot!
Excellently written as always!

Thanks. It used to actually be a bit longer but I have a tendency to yammer and somtimes brevity serves best to give the "punch to the gut" reaction I was going for.

Glad it worked though I'm sorry for the fanficed assult. -Offers icepack-
